Editorial Policy

EDsmart Data publishes independent, data-driven reporting on education outcomes, costs, and careers. This policy describes how we protect editorial independence, correct errors, and disclose limitations. It is a living document and will be updated as our practices evolve.

Independence and funding

Editorial decisions—what we analyze, how we frame findings, and what we publish—are made by our editorial team. Sponsorships or partnerships, if any are introduced later, will not influence methodology choices, metric definitions, or conclusions. Funding sources and relevant relationships will be disclosed on this page when material.

Accuracy, sources, and limitations

We rely on authoritative public datasets (for example U.S. Department of Education releases, BLS, Census, O*NET) and document sources, filters, and cohorts on each page. Federal and survey data have known lag, suppression rules, and revision cycles; we describe those limits where they affect interpretation. Charts labeled as illustrative use simplified or scaled series only for context and are called out explicitly.

Corrections and updates

When we identify a factual error in numbers, labels, or citations, we correct the page and note the change with a visible “Last updated” or correction line when the fix is substantive. If you believe you have found an error, contact editorial@edsmartdata.com with the page URL and a short description.

Artificial intelligence and tooling

We may use software—including assisted drafting or coding tools—to speed up layout, boilerplate, or internal checks. Human editors review published analysis, numbers trace to cited sources, and we do not present AI-generated statistics as primary facts without underlying data and methodology.

Rankings and comparisons

Rankings and state-versus-state comparisons use explicit rules (cohorts, sectors, years). Methodology pages and per-ranking notes explain how ties, missing data, and small samples are handled. Rankings are descriptive, not endorsements of any single institution.
